Hello Walkers!
As shorter days and colder, wetter weather loom ahead, getting outside to have that walk becomes more and more difficult. Fear not, faithful steppers - we are here to help. Defeat the doldrums by immersing yourself with a tightly knit walking community.
WOW offers many opportunities to walk with others; take a Nordic Walking class, visit the Walk Club on Saturday or start your own walk club! Visit the Events Section on the right side for more walk offerings. We all know that having a group of people surrounding you will both motivate and inspire. Let's support each other!

ARTICLE: WVR 2007
Louis Landre, a racewalker for three years, has participated in many events like the Willamette Valley relay. His enthusiasm was infectious when he talked to prospective teammates for this year's relay, making it sound like such fun that nearly half of the participants were new to the event.
This year, Landre wanted not just a competitive team to cross the finish line; he wanted to field a team of recreational walkers, people who just wanted to enjoy walking along country roads and have a fun-filled, personally rewarding experience. "Sore to the Corps" was born and joined "Dog Gone Fast" on the relay registration.

their registration fee for a total fee of $700!
- That is $75 less than last year's fee!
- Registration will close on December 1, 2007.
Our team loved the walk this year. We had three newbies in each van and the young ladies found it to be an awesome experience. The new course was much more forgiving than the previous years, with the 8 milers at night. We want to thank everyone who made this event possible. It was extremely well organized and personable.
--Margaret -- "Huffin Puffin" Captain
All teams who register will be reimbursed in full should the event not happen. Please remember, WVR 2008 will feature the relay, the half relay and additional events to be held in Alton Baker Park.

RECIPE
Roasted Vegetables
Roasted vegetables are a great fall side dish. Roasting is easy, quick, and it brings out the sweetness in vegetables adding depth to your main dish. This recipe is ripe with color—green, yellow, red, and orange—which makes it a dish rich with nutrients. Try eating the rainbow everyday for the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

WALKING TIPS YOU CAN USE!
The Best Time to Exercise
If you are a regular exerciser, you may have already determined your most productive time to exercise and follow a routine that works best for you. On the other hand, if your exercise time varies from day to day, and it’s wearing you out instead of pumping you up, you may be interested in the work of scientists who are studying the proverbial internal clock and how to best determine what time of day you should schedule your workouts.
