April is designated as National Walking month as well as the obscure. . . International Guitar Month, Keep America Beautiful Month, National Anxiety Month, National Humor Month, National Welding Month, and National Garden Month to name a few.
Spring is here. Daylight savings time is in effect. Portland weather vacillates between teasing spring-like sunny dry days, and reminders of gray rainy winter days.
I like the idea of April as National Walking Month and National Humor Month.
I once read that children laugh an average of 400 times a day; adults a mere 4 times.
What better therapy than walking and laughing with friends. You accomplish the feel good feelings associated with walking for fitness with those associated with laughter - the curative power of laughter and its ability to relieve debilitating stress and burnout may indeed be one of the great medical discoveries of our times.
